Let’s talk about Meghan Markle (and our Meghan ring)

on March 16, 2021

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (and we don’t mean the shiny diamonds we put on our Lula J jewelry), you’ll have read about or seen that explosive interview given by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to Oprah Winfrey, where, in a nutshell, the Duchess unleashed bombshells about the royal family that involved, among other things, racism and not being offered support when she desperately needed it.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Whether you’re Team Meghan or Team Nay-ghan, and whether or not you agree with the way Meghan Markle has chosen to go about things, one thing’s for sure — the erstwhile actress is a woman who’s not afraid to make tough decisions, stand up for herself and go after what she wants.

And here at Lula J, we celebrate that. When the going gets tough, we want to get going. We want to have the courage to make difficult choices, even if it means stepping on the toes of those in power, even if it means being in a very uncomfortable position. We want to have the guts, like Meghan, to pursue our best lives, to live with freedom, and ensure the safety and well-being of ourselves and our family.

And we’ve always admired Meghan and her strength. Our Meghan ring, named after Meghan Markle, has existed as long as our brand Lula J has, and was one of our first rings. It’s a regal piece that celebrates women and the ability to stand tall and strong, no matter what comes. A moonstone sits boldly, propping up three delicate white diamonds, with the moonstone activating the power of feminine energy, crowned by diamonds. It has a solid 14K gold band and setting, and can be worn alone (because a woman can be powerful on her own) or as a stackable (because it’s always nice to have someone on your side — Hello, Harry! Or as Meghan calls him, Haz!).

Will we be as strong as Meghan in the face of adversity? And when faced with injustice, whether it’s towards ourselves or to others, will we speak up and face the possible repercussions and even hate? Or will we stay silent, never rock the boat, and never advocate change for the better?

We say let’s rock the boat. Let’s challenge the things that need to be challenged so the world can be a better place. Let us create our own happy endings, buy our own diamond jewelry, and forge our own safe havens.

And we wish the namesake of our Meghan ring all the best, as she ekes out a new life in America with her loving and supportive husband, her son and the new little princess growing inside her. Meghan Markle married the prince, but she’s creating her own fairytale ending. As must we all.
